Be your own warrior: check your boobies

Monthly breast care:

I’m going to get on a soapbox here for a second and say, whether you are BRCA+ or not, CHECK YOUR BREASTS! If you’ve got’em, flaunt them, maintain them and do what you can to KEEP THEM HEALTHY! It doesn’t matter if they are big or small. If you have had implants or not, you need to check them. If you are totally opposed to touching yourself, you can always find someone else to do it for you =)….however, it is extremely important to know your own body so you can tell when something changes and doing monthly breast exams is a must for good overall breast health.

Bright Pink: making self breast exams sexy

There are numerous nonprofit cancer organizations out there but few are specifically reaching out to women like myself who are high-risk for breast and ovarian cancer and Bright Pink is one of them. I have much respect for the women (and men) behind the scenes at this organization and for the AMAZING “Underwire Alert” text messaging program that they have recently started. I actually just received my wonderful text message that reminded me to “Mind my melons, touch my tatas and treasure my chest.” It is absolutely wonderful and totally easy to sign up and I recommend it to anyone and everyone. All you have to do is text PINK to 59227 and you will automatically receive a cute text message each and every month that will cleverly remind you that it is time to remember your coconuts and feel those sexy things! It is free for anyone (and also easy to cancel if for any reason you decide you don’t want to receive them anymore). Very clever ladies and ‘gents of Bright Pink and thank you for reminding us to check our tata’s! Your Underwire alerts sure remind me to check mine =)
